Writing and publishing a book is an intimate process. You are putting yourself, your work, and your words “out there” for the world to see. We know how vulnerable this process can be. We are writers and artists ourselves and are sensitive to the delicate balance between art and commerce. We take great care to make sure that you and your work are expressed beautifully and accurately in everything we do–from marketing copy, to author websites, to social media campaigns.
Launch My Book, Inc was started in 2013 by Joel Pitney. A writer by training with a background in digital marketing, he helped launch his first book onto the New York Times Bestseller list, and soon began working with a wide range of authors to help bring their books to the world. Since 2013, Launch My Book has grown in scope to help cover every aspect of the book launching process. Our small team now includes our COO Laura Pitney (Joel’s wife), our director of marketing and production Jessica, our website designer Jacob, our social media manager Kiona, and several subcontractors. We are based in the beautiful town of Bend in the Cascade mountains of Central Oregon.
Meet The Team
Joel founded Launch My Book after a decade of work in both journalism and digital marketing. Joel’s passion and strength is helping to craft messaging and strategy that are tailored to the unique strengths of each author he works with. His work for Launch My Book includes ghostwriting, marketing, and the overall growth of the company. In his free time, Joel enjoys coaching a local High School Ultimate team.
Chief Operating Officer
Laura joined the company in 2016 after a long career in nonprofit fundraising. Laura has a knack for getting things done, and is in many ways the engine behind Launch My Book. She is responsible for editing projects, business development, and overall project management for the company. Laura enjoys spending her free time hiking and skiing in the forests of Central Oregon.
Director of Marketing & Production
Jessica joined the team in 2020 after a decade of entrepreneurship in overseas education. Finding Launch My Book felt like coming home. She brings a strong background in digital marketing, writing and product management to her current role. Among other things, she manages our self-publishing clients and is the product manager for our new series of online courses. When she’s not reading or bringing books to life, she’s probably out trail running, climbing a mountain or traveling.
Jacob joined Launch My Book in 2020 with a diverse background in media including graphic, print, and web design. He has been a freelance designer for 15 years helping clients bring their ideas to life on the page and screen. Jacob’s focus with Launch My Book is creating beautifully designed websites that best capture the brand and character of each unique client. In his free time, Jacob enjoys traveling, writing and recording music, playing hockey, and drinking too much coffee.
Social Media Manager
Kiona joined the team in 2020 with a background in social media, marketing, merchandising, and graphic design. A jill-of-all-trades, Kiona creates and manages all client social media across multiple platforms, edits video, creates digital imagery, designs marketing materials, and does basic web design. When she’s not “plugged in” Kiona enjoys making fresh pasta, painting, paddle boarding, and of course reading.

We are a people first company and believe that the best campaigns are those built on solid partnerships between our company and our authors. To that end, we only work with a handful of clients at a time so we can provide the most personalized service possible.
